At 14,30 everybody came together on a parking beside “Biedronka” where the bus was suppose to take us to London. It was 27th of September, when we bagan our adventure with London. We were traveling through countries like: Germany, Holland, Belgium and France for about 20 hours, but finally we reached to London at about 9 a.m. On the border between France and England there was the Eurotunnel (English Channel) which connects both countries. There was no sigh of any travel, only changes of pressure so we were quite dissapointed.
First point of our sightseeing was Canterbury. This is a charming town with characteristic alleys.
Then we went to London – capital of England and aim of our trip. There live about 8mln people but about 40% are foreigners, so it’s very cosmopolitan and multi-cultural city. You can meet people from all over the world. We were sightseeing everything which the London is famous for. I mean: Tower of London, London Bridge, London Eye, Greenwich and Big Ben of course. But places which I have just listed were just the beginnig. On second day we had chance to see was Westminister Abbey, House of Parliment, Buckingham Palace. Then we went to Madame Tussaud where you could take a photo with whoever you really want, begining from the celebrities ending with the Royal Family and the famous people from English history. Everything was made of wax and it seems like they are real.
London is famous for museums and galleries as well. One of the biggest museum in the world – British Museum, Natural History Museum or National Gallery had much more interesting exhibits than museums in Poland.
But nothing can’t be compared with the free time on Oxford Street and in Oxford. Everyone went shopping to the nearest city centre or shops. Prices were low, so everybody bought a lot of clothes. At the end of our trip we went to Windsor where is amazing castle with stunning view on whole town and to Oxford – also known as a university city. In Oxford we could see a lot of collages and universities.
For a week, we were living in families, where were a lot of funny situations. We had also chance to “check” our speaking because we had to use only English. Of course food wasn’t as good as Polish and everyone missed our bread and traditional dishes.
In my opinion, trip was unforgettable and I think nobody would agree with me.
I hope I will come back there soon.
